Recently, a deep-sea anglerfish was spotted in shallow waters off the coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
This sighting was unusual, as these fish typically live in the deep ocean, where little to no light penetrates.
Researchers speculate that the deep-sea anglerfish may have been unwell, fleeing a predator, or caught in an upwelling current, or other unknown factors.
The team that spotted the creature suspected it may have been ill or escaping a predator.
