Ghibli is a popular animation style rhat started in Japan. Studio Ghibli, founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki, is a renowned Japanese animation studio known for its distinctive style characterized by hand-drawn animation, detailed backgrounds, and emotionally engaging storytelling, often with a magical realism feel.
The name "Ghibli" comes from the Libyan Arabic word for a hot desert wind, and was also the name of the Italian aircraft Caproni Ca. 309 Ghibli, which Miyazaki, a fan of aviation, used to symbolize "blowing a new wind through the anime industry".
Some of the most famous Studio Ghibli anime films include "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," "Princess Mononoke," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Kiki's Delivery Service".
