The musky rat-kangaroo (Hypsiprymnodon moschatus) is a small, primitive marsupial found in the rainforests of northeastern Australia.
Unlike most kangaroos, musky rat-kangaroos do not hop, but instead move on all four limbs, scurrying through the rainforest floor.
They primarily eat fallen fruit, large seeds, and fungi, especially mushrooms that sprout from rotting logs, and invertebrates.
They are known to hide individual fruits and seeds in scattered locations, acting as "rainforest gardeners" by burying seeds that are crucial for the regeneration of rainforest plants.
