Why can't we remember our earliest childhood days?

The phenomenon of not remembering events from early childhood, known as infantile or childhood amnesia, is primarily attributed to the immature development of the hippocampus, a brain region crucial for forming and storing episodic memories, which are memories of specific events.

The hippocampus, along with other brain areas involved in memory, continues to develop and mature throughout childhood.

Although, as per a new fMRI study, the long-held belief of immature brain, is wrong!

Researchers found that babies can form memories, suggesting that the inability to recall early childhood experiences is actually linked to our inability to retrieve memory data from so early days.
